The first one is so disappointing. Some work very well but most don't. Several of the posters just don't work from a design perspective, several more don't bring across the movie reference and more still don't work at all unless you've already seen the movie which sort of defeats the purpose of a movie poster.

Sometimes part of designing something is recognizing when your limitations aren't working the way you expected and reworking either the subject matter/approach or the limitations themselves.
It's cringe-worthy design in places. A two-pointed crown for return of the king? Really? Triangle shark? I-ran-out-of-ideas alien?

Also, I don't understand why solid filled shapes were off limits but transparent gradients and glow effects were not.

Bah!

Pleasantly surprised to find The Zone in the second link. Just finished reading the newest translation for that book.
