Okay, I've obviously stepped on some toes, so I'm going to stay out of the What's Going On and Quotes forum for now. I'm know I'm pro-life, and I'm know I'm (mostly) conservative, and if I offend people, I apologize. I figure if I stay out of the conversation that way everyone's life is made simpler.
I'll still check some of the other topics for updates, but as for the controversial topics, I'm taking a break. _________________ Check it out! I finally remembered my login for this account. I can do crazy things like put text in my signature and change my avatar so it doesn't say NaNoWriMo 2005.

nobody even brought up the pro-life thing as it related to you....distinctions were even made between the pro-life movement/politicians and individuals who identify as pro-life. You were the one to take things which did not even refer to the pro-life movement and made them so(as in the quotes section for instance...ben's quote had nothing to do with pro-life/pro-choice...it did have to do with political hypocrisy in this country)...the thing about discussing something which goes to your beliefs is that other people will question what you take for granted and you should question them about what they take for granted as well.
Aside from that...you can stop reading the forum if you want but just ending an argument or agreeing to disagree would probably be better for everyone...making a melodramatic exit over two threads seems like an overreaction
but whatever
not all of us here agree on political beliefs or in a whole lot of other ways....if you don't want to get into an argument or end one you have the option of doing so _________________ People's whole lives do pass before their eyes before they die. The process is called living.

"(Stupid) Culture of life" is the term used by the pro-life movement when talking about a culture that does not include abortion (minus the "stupid" part.) Upon re-reading the quote, I see that was not the focus of it and I apologize for misreading it. Either way though, my comment about the PP quotes was mostly in jest, and it was mostly Tammy's reply that got me upset, not the initial quote that started it.

I'm not leaving. I'm just taking a break from the forums that tend to involve the controversial talks. That way I don't get involved in topics where I know I have a tendancy to overreact. Like I said, it's probably easier all around, at least for now. _________________ Check it out! I finally remembered my login for this account. I think you're generalizing a bit here. More than half of the members of this forum has had no (or little) part of these heated debates. It's quite informative to me to read these discussions actually. I know where I stand on the issue but I always like hearing all sides of an argument...
We don't really have a balance here though... maybe I'll ask James (Jim) Auwaerter to frequent the site a bit more... I think he'll have a lot to say (although I'm not sure what side of the Terri case he's on). He's definately a strong conservative and he's Catholic. I always enjoy listening to his views on controversial issues. _________________ "My Heart Is In the Work" - Andrew Carnegie |

It's okay, don't worry about it. I don't expect there to be a balance, especially in a group where all the members are college age or younger.
Actually, reading it back, I'm kinda embarrassed I posted this in the first place. It was mostly a reaction to the quote section more so than the topics about Terri or the leftist professors.
If you guys want to delete it, feel free. I can PM Tammy about the quotes thing.
Controversial conversations are good, I just need to know to back off when I get too emotionally involved. _________________ Check it out! I finally remembered my login for this account. I can do crazy things like put text in my signature and change my avatar so it doesn't say NaNoWriMo 2005. |
