Another failed attempt at taking what's in my head and putting it on screen Confused

I guess the concept is kinda interesting... just don't have the equipment or layout to present it. That's three photos of the same thing (roughly) taken throughout October (outside is early October, middle is middle October, and center is last weekend). It's supposed to portray the same tree, but with colorful leaves in the middle, and almost no leaves in the center.

It just doesn't look right... I think it looks more like one picture with some coloring effects rather than 3 images overlayed.

I think part of the issue is there isn't enough background; you can't tell you're looking into the sky at a tree.

I like the second draft a lot better. Not necessarily due to the additonal ring effect, but in the latter the winter look doesn't have the leaves any more. Really works well to emphasize the look.
