I've always liked Sony. They do a lot of research and their products end up really phenomenal I think. Consider their ultra portable laptops the new X505, the old TR series. Their walkman were a huge hit. Their CD/DVD burning digital camcorders although was not a great sell... did drive the market towards higher storage (that was when they were using floppies in digital cameras!!!) Also how can we forget Playstation?
However... they screwed up by supporting MS (Memory Stick). They tried to make it the mainstream format but... having rival formats being supported by multiple huge competitors should have been an obviously warning. So I attribute their recently screwup in expandable portable media to that. Although recently they've broken from their stupid trandition and started acceping other media formats. Then they made another huge mistake by creating MS Pro.
Well this article talks about the new Sony ebook. Looks like sony do bad again. It seems liek the reviewer has only praise for the hardware... but hardware by itself is nothing... sony should have waited before releasing this product... the market and support is not there.

Another thing to look for is the PSP, I've heard some bad things about it... that it's so nice screen and everything... but not so good for gaming...
Sony used to mean a high quality and well researched well supported and actually practical products to me (though kinda expensive). They seem to be going away from that.
This blunder seems like something a small company might make when trying to make a name for themselves in a market. _________________ "My Heart Is In the Work" - Andrew Carnegie |

the psp is going to be a wierd device with stange flaws. When ppl first compared it to the new gameboy DS the biggest thing they said is that the psp looked really really good in comperison so nintendo redesigned their ds and now it looks very similar to the psp...all shiny and stuff. I think hardware wise they are comparable with sony slightly better, but the psp has gone through multiple revisions and noone knows quiet when its due out yet...but as seeing the ds comming out in a few weeks and it will play the already huge gameboy advance library i think it will beat the sone...also ds has something more to offer then just a upgrade in hardware....
the few psp probs that were redesigned that i heard of were their screen while really really good was easy to get scratched and break and they didn't provide a lid...also the redesigned the buttons...they used to lie flush with the body which looked really cool, but u couldn't find them during play without looking at the controls so they raised them i think....it would be interesting to see what happens when they resease...but i think what will really sell it is if they have a few really really good apps for it that u can't get anywhere else and if the pricepoint is compariable to the DS $150...which i don't think it will be.... _________________ The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, isn't 'Eureka!' but rather 'hmm....that's funny.'
