Could you guys tell me about the operation of somethng similar to http://www.jameco.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/Jameco/searchResult.d2w/report?sort=BPA&search=223790

I have never worked with a pic standalone... I've always used premade pic controllers. So this thing has 5 io pins or something right? How does it work? Anyone know?

I don't know too much about this stuff, but i think, by looking from the datasheet, that this will work on some kinda bus. I think the basic idea is that u set this thing into some mode and then u can either read or write pins. If you look at page 7 of the datasheet it kinda tells u what each pin does...i only glanced at it, but i'll look into it in more detail and see if i can figure out what the datasheet is talking about...

But basicly this will involve building something around this so that u can easily send input to the pins u wana use and also read output from the same pins....how to go around doing that i think is the hard part....good luck.

BTW i might be totaly wrong about the whole thing so u might want to ask some ee or ece person...good luck
